English Style Remodel, new-historical residential home, designed by Residential Architect Steve Chambers AIA

Beverly Remodel: English Country Home in Highland Park, TX

E-mail

This English country home in Highland Park, Texas was remodeled with the architect’s signature.  It remains accurate in historical detail, yet creates elements of surprise throughout.

“This home was ‘green’ before the term was even being used in popular culture,” Steve says.  “Preserving historic structures and utilizing their embodied energy has always been just good design practice.”

We repurposed an existing design by turning a study into an entry/foyer where there previously was no sense of arrival in the home.  We also opened up a very narrow existing stair and provided a landing, turned the stair 90 degrees, made the treads wider, creating the appearance of broader staircase.  Interior colors used in the home were inspired by the deep, rich colors already present in the family’s collection of period furniture, rugs, textiles, and porcelain.
